Ensuring a good work life balance

A good work life balance helps to ensure our staff remain healthy, happy and here:

  • a 36-hour week for all full-time staff
  • generous holiday entitlement: a minimum 25 days a year (plus bank holidays), rising to 28 days after five years' service; for more senior positions holiday entitlements can rise to a maximum of 36 days

Support and counselling services

A number of support and counselling services are available to staff and their families:

  • free 24 hour confidential advice and counselling line as well as a legal advice service for staff and their immediate families provided by Workplace Options
  • free chaplaincy service for all faiths is offered to council staff by Oasis Uxbridge based in a local church

Our location

Our staff are based in locations throughout Hillingdon although a large number of our staff are based in the Civic Centre, Uxbridge which is close to the town's busy shopping centres and transport links.

Uxbridge is just 14 miles from central London by road, and at the end of the Metropolitan and Piccadilly tube lines. It provides easy access to the wealth of facilities that the capital has to offer, without the drawbacks and expense of inner city life.
