Carers are people who look after a relative, friend or disabled child who need support to live at home.

Over 26,000 Hillingdon residents identified themselves as carers in the 2011 Census, an increase of around 3,000 (9.5 percent) from the 2001 Census.

Of these 16,500 provide between one and 19 hours of unpaid care per week, 3,900 provide 20 to 49 hours of care per week and 5,500 provide more than 50 hours care per week.

According to the data from the Department for Work and Pensions (November 2016) in Hillingdon there are 2,495 residents in receipt of Carers Allowance.
