Rural Activities Garden Centre (RAGC)

The RAGC are committed to using the finest quality seeds and compost to grow and sell high quality produce, whilst offering employment and training opportunities for people with a learning disability.

The RAGC provides educational and supported employment and volunteering opportunities for residents with additional needs.

It first opened its doors in 1981 as part of a project by the council to make better use of the land on which it sits. The centre now boasts two 100ft glasshouses, five polytunnels, one shade tunnel and a wildlife pond. The RAGC produces a large range of bedding plants, shrubs and herbaceous plants, plus seasonal fruit, vegetables and free range eggs from chickens reared on site. The garden centre also has a small wooded area and other features to encourage wildlife including nest boxes and bird feeders.

This wonderful community asset is open to the public seven days a week, 9am to 4pm, and is accessible to all.
