Develop your skills for independent living

Are you looking to extend your skills in an adult environment and somewhere that will cater to your additional learning needs?

Every year we help a variety of learners with learning difficulties and/or disabilities take the next step in their learning journeys at Hillingdon Adult and Community Learning

We offer a wide ranging provision that focuses on learning skills that support independent living and developing skills for work.

Our independent living skills courses equip learners with the skills to be able to manage tasks more independently, both at home and in the community. These include: personal health and hygiene, personal and social development, and cooking. We also offer a pathway in independent living for those wishing to move into supported accommodation. This is a fifteen hour a week provision run over one to two years, depending on the needs of the learner. If you wish to access this course you will need to undertake an assessment and interview. The assessment is needed to see if you are at the right learning level and potential for the course and to find out your support needs.

If you would like to gain or brush up on your skills for work we can help there to. We offer a wide range of courses including English, Maths and ICT.

Maybe you are the creative type and working with textiles, exploring art and craft, photography or gardening skills are more your thing. Whatever course you choose you will be supported, have fun and expand your skills base.

Work in Supported Employment (WISE)

WISE is a community-based project that is run as part of our FLC Programme. It enables adults with learning difficulties/disabilities (LDD) to access voluntary work-based learning and work placements. Working in the community is a vital part of social inclusion and this programme aims to support residents with LDD to do just that.
