Golf maintenance updates

Keeping you up to date with our maintenance programmes for Haste Hill and Uxbridge public golf courses.

Autumn renovations

Golf Hillingdon's greens renovations fortnight will commencing on the 21 September 2020.

As part of our annual maintenance programme, air will be injected up to 12 inches beneath the green surface fracturing the root zone to create air spaces, to promote root development. It will force oxygen in and push CO2 and other anaerobic gases out from rootzone gas exchange.

Deep scarifying will take place to remove lateral growth and top dressing will follow, to improve surface drainage and improve the soil growing medium.

Rolling with a turf iron will restore surface levels.

Subject to favourable weather conditions, course closures will be:

  • Haste Hill course: Tuesday 22 and Wednesday 23 September
  • Uxbridge course: Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September

There will be intensive maintenance activity on the greens and approaches throughout this period, the bulk of which will be operational during the times of course closures.

These works will be carried out by the Golf Hillingdon greenkeeping team and the operations will be disruptive to golf at times. Temporary greens may be in play from time to time to ensure that the work is continuous and is completed as expediently as possible.

We ask that our customers be understanding during this renovation period and give priority to all greenkeeping staff.

These vital works are necessary to ensure the best possible playing surfaces going into the winter.

We thank you for your cooperation and understanding in helping us achieving these improved conditions.
