Children with disabilities

Estimates of the numbers of children with disabilities in Hillingdon are taken from the National Child and Maternal Health Intelligence Network (CHIMAT).

A CHIMAT survey of all directors of children's services in England found that the prevalence of disabled children in English local authorities was between 3.0 percent and 5.4 percent, which would equate to about 2,300 to 4,100 children and young people in Hillingdon experiencing some form of disability.

The numbers with mild disability are lowest in the youngest age groups, while the numbers with severe disability decrease with age. There are more boys than girls with disability at all ages.
