Fiesta activities programme to return this summer

News release: 30/5/18 - Hillingdon Council will be holding its annual summer activity programme from Monday 23 July to Friday 31 August, with something for everyone aged 7 to 19 (up to 25 with special needs).

The council's popular event offers a variety of summer activities for children and young people including street dance, motor mechanics, film production, self defence, fashion design, climbing and kayaking.

The programme also includes sports such as basketball, tennis, cricket and football, and families are encouraged to book online from Wednesday 13 June.

Jamie, aged 11 from Ruislip, attended the Woodlands Week course at Ruislip Lido last year, which included outdoor activities plus arts, crafts and drama.

He said: "I chose to do Woodlands Week because I love being outdoors and I'm really sporty. The best day was when we learnt how to survive out in the wild and built our own houses from things we found in the woods like logs and bracken. It's been really great as it involves everyone and it's a chance to meet new people and have fun."

Courses will take place at various venues across Hillingdon including the council's young people's centres, community centres and sports halls.

Councillor David Simmonds, Hillingdon Council's Cabinet Member for Children's Services and Education, said: "Once again, we will be offering a range of fun and educational activities throughout the summer for local children and young people.

"All courses are offered at an affordable cost during the summer break, but families are advised to book as early as possible to avoid disappointment, as places get snapped up very quickly."
