Facts and statistics about the London Borough of Hillingdon

Hillingdon is the second largest of London's 33 boroughs and takes its name from a Parish recorded in the eleventh century.

Over half of Hillingdon's 42 square miles is a mosaic of countryside including canals, rivers, parks and woodland. As the home of Heathrow Airport, it is also London's foremost gateway to the world. It shares its borders with Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hounslow, Ealing, and Harrow. In addition to Heathrow Airport, Hillingdon is also home to the RAF airport at RAF Northolt.

It was created in 1965 by an amalgamation of the Borough of Uxbridge and the Urban Districts of Hayes & Harlington, Ruislip-Northwood and Yiewsley & West Drayton.

Locality and Ward Profiles

The locality and ward profiles include details of population, age structure, ethnicity, religion, housing tenure and economic activity.  We have included data regarding long term conditions with their observed and estimated prevalence.

Where possible we have used the most recently published data.  However, some data sets are only collected at ward level via the Census, eg ethnicity, religion, country of birth, preferred language, occupation and household type.  This data will not be updated at ward level until the 2021 Census has been collected, collated and analysed.

Profiles of the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) localities are also available:
