Hillingdon in Bloom

Hillingdon in Bloom is a free gardening competition open to everyone in the borough, whether you've got a huge garden or a tiny window box.

Applications are now open. Closing date for applications is Wednesday 31 July 2024.

Categories

  • Best Window Box Display (window boxes must be either on or attached to the house windowsill and not a free-standing container)
  • Best Hanging Basket
  • Best Balcony Display (on an open-fronted balcony)
  • Best Residential Garden Display
  • The Roome Cup. Awarded to the garden that is judged as making the greatest contribution to wildlife conservation by:
    • prioritising the use of perennial or pollinator-friendly plants
    • keeping wildlife in mind by considering their needs in terms of habitat and food chains when creating or maintaining areas
    • looking for ways to eliminate the use of peat, for example in propagating and raising plants
    • considering plant choice carefully and selecting hardy plants that are less susceptible to pests and diseases
  • Best Park and Bloom Display (a front garden with plants, flowers, and room for a car)
  • Best Novelty Garden Display (for an exhibit within a garden that incorporates temporary planting and/or garden ornaments and structures)
  • Best Business Establishment Display

Prizes

Winners will receive a combination of RAGC and RHS gift vouchers, a rosette and a certificate.

Winning entries may also be featured on the council's website, social media sites and Hillingdon People magazine.
