Culture Bite

This year is the fifth year of Culture Bite and we have a brand new format!

We're extending our programme so it runs the whole year round with mini break-out festivals.

Monthly themes

  • April - Shakespeare/St George's Day
Film screenings, talks and workshops all commemorating Shakespeare, his contemporaries and works throughout the month that marks his birth and death. And for our Patron Saint, St George, we will be running an author panel all about dragons!

  • May - Women
Celebrating all women and their work with an event about Jane Eyre and Jane Austen, diversity among local women and inspirational talks.
  • June - National Crime Month
Events dedicated to the most popular genre issued at our libraries, with crime authors, crime podcasts, writing workshops and true crime.
  • August - Kids!
A week of workshops, activities, fun days and more - dedicated to keeping the little ones entertained during the summer holidays.
  • September - Gin Fling
Special author events and an epic Gin Fling, involving a night out with five popular fiction authors in the Great Barn.
  • October - History
Celebrating all things historical, from local history to murder mysteries, with a little bit of folklore thrown in too.
  • January 2020 - Beat the Blues
After Christmas and New Year, sometimes things can fall a little flat. Come visit our libraries for events to beat those blues and feel reinvigorated. From looking at your wellbeing to reading aloud, there will be something for everyone.
  • February - Feel Good
A host of events, including poetry readings, feel-good authors and film screenings, to make sure you're feeling good.
  • March - World Book Day
Enjoy this national event that celebrates books, reading and the tremendous positive effect this has on people of all ages.
