Heritage exhibitions at Manor Farm

Manor Farm House hosts a programme of temporary exhibitions tied to Ruislip's rich history and cultural heritage. These are free to visit, subject to house opening times.

Temporary exhibitions are held in the Provost Parlour on the ground floor, accessed through one of our two permanent display rooms. With its Tudor beams and view on the orchard, this the Provost Parlour supports a programme of displays exploring themes tied to local history and culture.

The Year War Came

Until the moment Britain declared war on Germany on 3 September 1939, the Second World War was seen as imminent, but by no means inevitable. This new free exhibition will showcase the lives of civilians in Hillingdon from 1939 to the Battle of Britain, from civil defence personel and war workers to the children who saw their lives dramatically affected.

The exhibition will be shown at:

  • Manor Farm until Thursday 1 August
  • Uxbridge Library between Friday 30 August to Friday 20 September

To and Fro: 1930s' transport in Hillingdon

Explore the different methods of transport that were available in the borough during the 1930s through our To and Fro exhibition. A range of historic photographs and residents' recollections will take you back to a time of great change, where Hillingdon saw a population expansion and the increase in cars, trains, tubes and trolleybuses.

The exhibition will be shown at:

  • Uxbridge Library between Friday 21 June and Friday 12 July
