MOVES exercises classes

To help keep our residents safe and in line with government advice on the coronavirus, the MOVES exercises classes have been cancelled until further notice.

Two older people sitting down exercising

Being more active has many benefits - it improves physical and mental health, and enables people to stay connected to their family, friends and communities. As well as being more active in general, we know that maintaining and improving muscle strength and balance can help people in later life live independently and reduce the risk of falls.

There are a variety of gentle sessions across the borough targeted for the 65 plus. Equipment and advice is available for you at all of the clubs, whichever you decide to come along to and try. Each session is £1 per person. (£2 for West Drayton and Yiewsley sessions). No need to book, just drop in.

Guidelines for older adults aged 65 plus

At least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic activity such as cycling or walking every week, and strength exercises on two or more days a week that work all the major muscles (legs, hips, back, abdomen, chest, shoulders and arms).

Zumba Gold

Original Zumba moves at a lower-intensity. A variety of aerobic strength and endurance exercise.
